• Point 3: It is essential to keep wounds clean to prevent infection. A stage I wound can be gently washed with water and mild soap, but open sores (Stage III and IV) should be cleaned with a saltwater (saline) solution each time the dressing is changed. Wounds need appropriate dressings – Iodine, Antibiotic Powder like Neosporin, Hydrogen Peroxide may work but only at the appropriate stage. Seek help of doctor or a qualified and experienced nurse as antiseptics such as hydrogen peroxide and iodine, can damage sensitive tissue and delay healing
  • Point 4: Controlling incontinence as far as possible is crucial to helping sores to keep the wound dry.
