1. Learning to use equipment: Users with reduced cognitive functioning such as severe strokes/paralysis etc may not be able to learn or remember how to use a walker. Moreover condition of patient may evolve and patient deteriorates, hence an ongoing assessment with a health care professional is very important.
  2. Home environment: Loose rugs, cluttered floor area can cause the user to accidentally fall. Family and care providers should clear the path of the user to ensure that there is no risk of falling
  3. Stairs: Users should NOT attempt to take a walker/walking frame or a wheelchair on a staircase even if there is only one step. Family and Care providers should support the user in negotiating steps
